Richards Special mandarins are known for their delicious fruit, boasting a bright orange exterior and a thick, easy-to-peel rind. The inside reveals juicy segments bursting with a complex sweetness and a lower acidity compared to other mandarins. This makes them a refreshing treat enjoyed by both adults and children. This spring mandarin variety was developed in New Zealand and is becoming increasingly popular. Richard Special trees are prolific producers, offering heavy crops of fruit throughout the season.
Richards Special mandarin trees are highly ornamental and look great in any garden or orchard. They are vigorous growers and disease resistant. However, they benefit from a copper and oil spray in Spring and Autumn. They require full sun and well-drained soil. The fruit is best eaten fresh, but it can also be used in salads, juices, and jams. You can also freeze them for up to six months.
