The Newhall Navel Orange Tree is an early ripening, heavy cropping orange tree which originated in California. A variant of Washington Navel, Newhall orange is juicy with a lovely, sweet flavour. The easy peel fruit is large, slightly oval, and seedless, with a deep orange rind.
The Newhall orange tree is a vigorous grower and can produce an abundance of large, high-quality fruit. It is best grown in a sunny position and protected from frosts. While Newhall oranges can grow up to 4 metres, height and shape can be maintained at a desired size by regular pruning. We keep our trees pruned to between 1.2m and 2m height, and they thrive. At these heights it means you don't have to get onto a ladder to pick fruit which is a great safety advantage.
