Yen Ben is New Zealand's main commercially grown lemon crop. It is a cultivar of the Lisbon lemon and was developed in Australia in the late 1930s. Each Yen Ben tree can produce hundreds of juicy flavourful lemons per year.
Yen Ben lemon trees are vigorous growers and can reach heights of up to 3-4 metres. We top our Yen Ben trees to a manageable height of 1.5m and they thrive. We do this to make picking of lemons and budwood easy. Yen Ben lemons make a tasty limoncello.
