Ugly looking but tasty and juicy. If you are looking for a unique and flavourful citrus tree to grow, the Ugli fruit tree is a great option. Ugli fruit is a natural cross between grapefruit, orange and tangerine and the fruit reflects these citrus flavours. Ugli fruit trees produce large fruit which has a thick, bumpy, and wrinkled, easy peel skin.
Ugli fruit trees are relatively easy to grow, but they prefer a warm climate and to be positioned in full sun. They produce a great crop of low-calorie fruit each year. We first tried Ugli fruit on our honeymoon in Kerikeri many moons ago and and it has been a family favourite ever since.

September to November. The name "Ugli" is derived from the fruit's appearance, which is not as smooth and symmetrical as other citrus fruits. It's a hybrid citrus tree that produces large, bumpy, and often misshapen fruits. |
Fruit Uses |
The flesh is juicy and easy to segment, making it a great snack or addition to salads and desserts. Fruit can be eaten fresh or used in juices, jams, and other desserts. It is also a good source of vitamin C and other nutrients. |
