The fruit of the Sanguinello blood orange tree is medium sized, oval shaped and has few seeds.

The Sanguinello blood orange has a complex flavour - a delightful mix of sweetness, tartness, and a hint of berry. We recommend enjoying them fresh, squeezed into a refreshing juice, or added a to salads and desserts for a touch of elegance.

The fruit of Sanguinello blood orange trees has a less intense colour in NZ than in their country of origin, Spain. This is like Tarocco and Moro blood oranges. In NZ the skin of Sanguinello oranges is deep orange in colour, and the fruit has pale red streaked flesh. To optimise colour, it is best grown in areas with hot summers and cool winters. Note it is important to protect your Sanguinello tree from frosts. Do this by planting in a sheltered, sunny position and cover with frost cloth at times of heavy frosts.

Sanguinello trees are known for their manageable size, which is perfect for patios or containers. We recommend our patio and standard range if you have a smaller garden or a wanting to plant trees which will be a statement.

Our Garden Range Sanguinello has sold out for 2025. Order now for 2026. Other sizes still available.
