Lue Gim Gong Orange trees are named after Lue Gim Gong, a prominent American citrus grower in the early 1900s. The Lue Gim Gong orange is medium-sized, with a thin, smooth, easy peel skin and few seeds. It produces delicious, sweet and juicy fruit, with some critics saying it is the nicest tasting orange. Lue Gim Gong fruit ripens from late spring, hold well on the tree and stores well.
Lue Gim Gong is a variety of Valencia orange tree that's well-suited for growing in New Zealand in the home garden and it's also a good choice for commercial growers. It is relatively hardy compared to other orange trees and can tolerate some frost. Fertilize your tree in spring and summer with a citrus fertilizer. Prune your tree lightly each year to remove any dead or diseased branches.
