The green finger lime tree is the most common finger lime variety available in NZ. Green finger limes, like all finger lime fruit, are unique in appearance and taste and are tropical natives of Australia.
Each finger lime fruit looks like a fat little finger. Inside the rough, thin skin is a lot of caviar- like vesicles which release a unique lime juice when places in the mouth or crushed. Highly prized by chefs and home cooks, finger limes grow well in a warm sunny place or a container. They do not tolerate frosts.

Summer to mid-winter. Our grafted trees take 1-3 years to fruit. This compares to trees grown from seed that can take up to 10 years to fruit. When ripe, the fruit is firm and comes away easily. It will not continue to ripen once picked. Unripe fruit has a bitter pine flavour. |
Fruit Uses |
The fruit is best used raw. Use only the 'caviar' not the skin. Place in cocktails or on fish, chicken, cakes, slices, or muffins. Stunning in a G&T. |
