The Cutlers Red grapefruit tree is a popular variety known for its large, red tinged, juicy fruits and sweet, orange-fleshed pulp. Unlike traditional red grapefruit with pinkish flesh, the Cutlers Red has a vibrant orange- yellow colour. The thick skin is easy peel, and the fruit contains few seeds.
Cutlers Red grapefruit trees thrive in warm, sunny locations with well-drained soil. New Zealand's climate, particularly in the northern regions, provides ideal conditions for its growth. However, be mindful of frosts, especially during its young stages, and consider protecting your tree if necessary. Regular watering, especially during the first year, and proper fertilisation are crucial for healthy growth and fruit production. Use a citrus fertiliser in spring and autumn to provide essential nutrients. Prune in winter to encourage healthy growth and fruit production.
