Jaffa Brownie- Orange and Dark Chocolate Gluten Free

This brownie is my go-to when I want something decadent that suits everyone around the table—including those of us who are gluten-free. The rich dark chocolate paired with fragrant orange zest gives that classic Jaffa flavor. It’s bold, fudgy, and surprisingly simple to make.

Ingredients

  • 150g butter
  • 150g dark chocolate
  • 250g sugar
  • Zest and juice of 2 large oranges
  • 3 eggs
  • 50g cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 100g gluten-free flour
  • 150g almond meal

 Method

  • Preheat the oven to 160°C. 
  • Line a brownie tin with baking paper.
  • Melt butter and chocolate together in the microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until smooth. Let cool slightly.

Serving Suggestions

  • Sprinkle icing sugar and orange dust or orange zest on the top of the brownie.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt. 
  • Great with fresh oranges, especially if they are off your tree.

Extra Tips

  • Want more orange punch? Drizzle with a quick icing made from orange juice and icing sugar once cooled.
  • For dairy-free adaptation: use plant-based butter and chocolate (check the labels!).
  • These freeze beautifully
