Ways to Use Finger Limes

Oh we love Finger Limes. The burst of lemony-lime juice as the 'caviar'/ or 'pearls' releases its juice has to be tried to be believed. There really isn’t anything else like it. Each variety has a slightly different flavour and the flavour also depends on ripeness.

All finger limes are best used raw. They work well as a decoration or flavour enhancer. Use only the 'caviar' not the skin as the skin is bitter.

We use our finger limes in a variety of ways:

  • They are stunning added to a G&T, Margarita, other alcoholic cocktails or non alcoholic cocktails. They are best in cocktails that don't contain dairy products to prevent curdling.

  • Finger Limes are wonderful with cooked chicken and cooked or raw seafood.. We recommend tossing them through the dish if it is cold, like a prawn cocktail or a cold chicken salad with mayonnaise.
  • On a simple hot seafood or chicken dish, serve with finger lime butter. 
  • Sprinkle on top of chicken, especially if served or cooked with other citrus 
  • Finger Limes look great as a decoration on desserts and baking or tossed through yoghurt to be served as an accompaniment
  • We loving using finger limes in various salads, especially a tossed salad. It is great to serve the salad without telling your guests that there is finger limes in the salad. Enjoy seeing the delight on your guests' faces when they get that unexpected burst of citrus within their salad.
  • Toss through a seafood pasta just as serving. Best with lemon or butter based sauces rather than tomato based sauce.
  • Combining several different coloured finger limes look great together.
