How to Make Citrus Air Freshener - Fast and Easy Spray

This method is quick and requires minimal effort, perfect if you need a room freshener in a pinch.

Ingredients:

  • Spray bottle
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon citrus juice 
  • 10 drops of citrus essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Fill your spray bottle with 1 cup of water.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. The mixture will fizz as the baking soda dissolves.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or another citrus juice of your choice. We like to use Lemon, Lime, Kaffir or occasionally we use orange.
  4. (Optional) Add 10 drops of citrus essential oil for a stronger scent. Lemon, orange, grapefruit, Bergamot or lime essential oils are all good options. You can mix your essential oils for a more complex aroma if you wish. For example you might add Bergamot and Lemon together.
  5. Secure the spray bottle top and shake well to combine everything.
  6. Test the spray in a small inconspicuous area before using it throughout the room.

Variation: Add rosemary sprig, vanilla, or a combination of citrus.
